Daddy Daughter Dance!

The Following is a blog I wrote 8 years ago and never published. I found it in my drafts and thought I would share. After all, Scrapbook pages are timeless!

Annie and her Daddy went to the Daddy daughter dance together. I created this layout with the corsage he gave her. They had a great time, but she was super shy.

Hang With Me!

The Following is a blog I wrote 8 years ago and never published. I found it in my drafts and thought I would share. After all, Scrapbook pages are timeless!

It has been awhile, but I need you to hang with me. I have been lacking motivation the last two months and have completed a few challenges. I have had to do seperate uploads for each challenge and they follow this post. In the mean time, here are my recent creations of the last few months. Sorry about the flash, but I am still trying to learn this camera I have.

Isn't this picture of my Parker too funny? This has been his latest thing. I ask him to smile and he has to do these big funny eyes too! All of this is CTMH!

This is such a funny thing that my sister and I did. We were crawling around on the floor to get a picture of these adorable easter baskets that she had found for her and my kids. We were trying to get just the perfect shot. It was late and we were tired and one of us turned our camera on the other and we got into this camera war. She has all the pictures of me and I of her.

I used a sketch to complete this page and I am not sure I am loving it. I am doing a page of the month thing through Basic Gray and in the process I am starting to appreciate BG a lot more. This paper is all BG as well as the paper I made the flower from. The other bits are from another line.

How To Create a Textured Layout!

I started scrap booking 29 years ago, so you can only imagine how three kids later and a lifetime of adventures can add up! One thing that has become crucial in my albums is to only use one a year, therefore I need the layouts flat. For a few years I was filling up 5-6 albums. After awhile I ran out of places to keep them. I do not want to skip documenting important event or time because I do not  know where to store them. Hence, the transfer to flat pages. 7 Gypsies Architecture stickers and  mixed media pads are perfect to create stunning yet flat pages (that have some texture). I created this page using only a few sheets from a mixed media pad and sets of Architecture stickers. My kids and I discovered an awesome Ghost town on their spring break that I wanted to remember.

This is the paper I used:

I fussy cut some of the images from the Gypsy Mixed Media Pad to use as my title, photo mattes, and embellishments. To cut the inside of the large frame I found it most beneficial to use my exacto knife and glass mat.
I distressed the edges of the pieces that were straight by running a pair of open scissors along the edges and inked them all.
I used pop dots to adhere the large frame to the base page. This gave the layout extra interest because of the depth caused by the frame being lifted slightly.

Next, I placed a few stickers on the base of the page tucking the edges under the frame.
I used the smaller frames to not only frame the pictures, but also as mattes.
I added a few pop dots to two of the framed pictures to add more interest.

I added the large title to the corner of the layout over the frame. I used pop dots where the numbers touched the base.

Finally I added a few more stickers to round out the layout.

I did not feel as though the layout needed much text, so I skipped the journaling on it and just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Layout Round Up!

One of my goals for 2018 has been to catch up on my scrap booking. I have been scrap booking since 1990 and up until 2012 I was not behind. In 2012 I got a job outside of the home and it just went to the back burner. I was still taking pictures and my collection of them were growing. I got back into my craft room in 2014, but my focus was on mixed media and card making. I seemed to have lost my mojo for scrap booking, though it is one of the most important things I do for my family -- memory keeping. I think part of the problem was scrap booking was not "in" anymore. So, this year I decided to focus once again on memory making. I am happy to say that I have made a dent in my photos and possibly could catch up in the near future! Here are a few recent pages I have created:

They are an odd assortment of themes, but I scrap when inspired ;-)

How to Make Glittered Titles!

One of the things I like about white titles is how easy it is to add colored glitter to them to make them match a project. I really wanted to amp up and create a bright fun layout with my son and I. he is bright and fun so a layout needs to reflect that, right?
All the supplies I used are from Bad Girls Couture and the adhesive from Supertite (You can actually take 10% off any order over $5 with coupon code: Supertite-Golden).

I used the Dual Tip Max-Glue Pen to adhere the glitter to the letters.
I like it because not only is it clear, it also has a nice tip with a comb to move the adhesive around.
I applied my adhesive to the title:
I sprinkled a generous layer of glitter on the wet adhesive.

Once the title was covered I went in with the flat side of a craft spatula and pressed the glitter down.
I applied another layer of glitter and let it dry.
I simply removed the title once it was dry and applied to my layout.
I really like that with this technique I could glitter different words in my title different colors!

Back To School Layouts

I have kept a school album for each of my children from preschool through high school. Well, they still are in school, but it will go through high school. When they were little it was so much fun and easy to find cute back to school paper crafting goodies. As they have gotten older it has become challenging to find anything back to school that is mature like them, yet reflective of who they are and what they are becoming. So, I have ventured outside of the typical back to school supplies and used other things for the layouts.
Parker is going into the 6th grade. He needed something cool, but still kid friendly. I opted for stars in different textures in which I die cut out in various shapes and used as a border. I added a few bottle cap sequins from Brutus Monroe to finish it off.

Annie is entering 10th grade. I decided to use an inspirational kit from Brutus Monroe because she is changing from an impressionable child to a confidant young adult. It reminds me of a transformation that a butterfly undergoes. I love the layering butterfly die!
Logan is entering 11th grade! I decided to use a library back ground stamp and a traditional school style stamp set by Brutus Monroe to create his page. I added a small basketball because that is his life!

This is the first year I did not use the same sketch and product line for each kiddo. They each turned out great and I hope the kids will cherish them when they receive their albums.

Brutus Monroe Feature -- First Day of School Layout!

Brutus Monroe is releasing new stamps on Sept 30, 2017 that are perfect for back to school! The Chalkboard and books are from two of the sets. I really like them because my kids are not little anymore, so a lot of the back to school stamp sets are to adorable for them. They need to be cool! I am over on the Brutus Monroe Blog  today sharing how I created this layout so please check it out!

Until next time ~ Happy Crafting!
