Boo!

To me, nothing is more spooky and speaks of Halloween like a spider web! Therefore, I just had to create a card focusing on a great big web!
I inked up my CTMH spider web in white pigmented ink and heat embossed it directly on a black card base. In the lower corner I did the same with the word BOO!
I actually stamped the Boo! a little higher than anticipated, so I added two strips of washi tape. Sometimes mistakes work out so well :-)
I finished it off with a sparkly spider!

I hope you were inspired in the month of September and you have a few fresh ideas for using your stash to create for Halloween! In the month of October I am sharing some Fall ideas using my stash too! Please make sure you have subscribed (follow) my blog and come back soon!

Deepest Sympathies

Probably the least favorite thing for me to make is a Sympathy card, but they are the most meaningful to the recipient. During times of loss a hand made card can warm the heart like nothing else. Since death is often no predictable it is best to make a few to have on hand. I used the Hedgehog Hollow September 2018 to create a Deepest Sympathy card.
I stamped the flowers with Catherine Pooler's Coral Cabana ink pad. I stamped the stems and sentiment with a black detailed ink. Using the Marvy Uchida brush tip pens I colored in the flowers and stems.
I sprinkled Color Burst on a piece of white cardstock and misted with gold glimmer mist. Once it dried I used an oval die cut to trim it out and inked the edges.
I pop dotted the flowers and sentiment over the stems I adhered with a liquid adhesive. To finish if off I added a few pearls.

I find it easier to create these cards with no specific person in mind. If I am creating a sympathy card for a loved one I tend to break down and unable to complete it. By working on several sympathy cards at a time it makes it easier.

HUGE Fall Blog Hop!

Hello Friends! Thank you so much for stopping by today. You are in for a treat! Today I am participating in a  MEGA BLOG HOP!!!!!! There are lots of fantastic designers world wide that have come together to showcase terrific fall projects that you can recreate and put your own artistic touches on in your craft room. You have seen a lot of these designers featured on sites like Tattered Angels, 7 Gypsies and and Canvas Corp Brands! Do you see a trend? This is the  CCB Fall Blog HOP! Each of these designers have created a project to share with you on their blog. Some are offering prizes, so please hop on through to each blog. If you are inspired would you be so kind as to share the hop with others? We would truly appreciate it!

I am sharing with you a banner I created:

I found a CCB banner kit in my stash that I thought would be perfect for Halloween:
I used the black and white polka dot paper from the kit as a template to create the pieces. I first cut out the smaller piece and traced it 1/4 inch larger on different substrates as a backing:

I misted each piece with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and set them aside to dry:
I used the Halloween Kraft pack to create the smaller pieces of the banner:

I found some wonderful  images from the mini art fall paper pack that I painted with glimmer mist. I loved playing on this paper because it was such a beautifully strong substrate that withstood a lot of water. I waited for everything to dry and assembled the banner. I cut a few canvas strips to sew on to the top of each piece to hang from the rope provided in the kit. To finish it off I found gold chipboard letters that are probably over a decade old in my stash to spell out "SPOOKY".

I am giving away a small goodie bag filled with handmade (by me) cards, ATCs and supplies to one lucky winner. All you need to do is subscribe to my blog and leave a comment stating your favorite thing about fall. I will announce a winner on this post OCTOBER 5 2018!

Please make sure you hop on through to the next blog in the list:

Get Batty with some Crazy Brids

One of the best stamps sets I have ever purchased is the Crazy birds by Tim Holtz! It comes with a slew of accessory stamps to customize with any season or holiday. Naturally I had to create a Halloween card with it!

I used Distress Markers to color in the bird and pumpkin and I think it works great with the background paper. The card came together rather quickly, but it looks like it took a lot of time. I love the web paper as a backdrop to the focal point.

Feeling Spooky?

Have you ever used digital downloads on your cards? I must confess that I did not even know they could come in such gorgeous prints until my friend, Linda Israel, introduced me to Calico Collage . I have been hooked ever sense! Not only are the images gorgeous, but they are easy to store (on your computer), cheaper than buying paper, reusable (just print them up as much as you need them) and fast (if you don't have time to wait for something to ship). I created two cards using a digital print and stamps from Close to my Heart.
I used a Kraft tag that I distressed and popped a spooky sticker on it as the focal point. I then added a few more embellishments and stamped my sentiment.

For this card I stamped the witch from the same stamp set and heat embossed her in black. I cut her out and used pop dots to adhere her to the card.
I added three gems to balance it.
For the sentiment, I stamped it in clear embossing ink, embossed it and added distress ink over the area. I then took a baby wipe and removed some of the ink.
Make sure you check out digital art! It really is a wonderful alternative to traditional paper crafting that can be easily incorporated into your craft. Mix it with some of your stash!

Boorific!

I found this pumpkin die in my stash and knew it needed to be on a card. Once again I pulled out my Brutus Monroe Stamps because I think I got this die with the stamp set. I wanted to make it pop so I thought it would be fun to cut it out using Rinea Foiled Paper!
To create the pumpkin I die cut it on orange starstruck paper and traced the die on ebony foiled paper as a backing. I ran it through my sticker machine and attached it to my card base. So easy!
I stamped the little crow and pumpkin that I water colored in and trimmed with my Scan n Cut.
I like to use Rinea Paper on projects like this. It cuts beautifully and is striking.

Bloom Where You are Planted

Sometimes to create a stunning card it really is best to keep it simple. The script for "Bloom" is one of my favorites. I like the size of the word too. I really wanted to create a card that could showcase that one word -- Bloom.
To create this card stamp the sentiment with Catherine Pooper Coral Cabana Ink pad. Next line the stem of the Bountiful Floral up under the sentiment making sure there is enough room for the flower. Color the stem in with the green brush tip marker. On a separate piece of white card stock, stamp the flower image and color with blue brush tip marker. Using a pop dot adhere the flower to the stem and add a little glitter glue to the center. Stamp "Where you are Planted" along the bottom. Adhere card stock with images to a mat and place on card front. Finish off with a few Nuvo Dew Drops.
I usually am not a clean and simple crafter, but I love this card! Sometimes getting out of your usual style is fun!

Witch Please....

When I saw this stamp set last year I knew I had to have it! Witch Please.... is a Brutus Monroe Stamp Set that is probably one of the Halloween favorite with that company. It is perfect for those that have a sarcastic and/or sassy personality.
To create this card I took a piece of mixed media cardstock and covered it with Colorburst. As that dried I die cut two circles and stamped my image along with the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock.
This card is going to go through the mail, so I made it flat. I added some little dew drops for a touch of dimension.
Sometimes you just have to get a little messy :-)

Daddy Daughter Dance!

The Following is a blog I wrote 8 years ago and never published. I found it in my drafts and thought I would share. After all, Scrapbook pages are timeless!

Annie and her Daddy went to the Daddy daughter dance together. I created this layout with the corsage he gave her. They had a great time, but she was super shy.

You are My Person

I created this piece for one of my dear close friends. I am super happy that it is a magnet and she can hang it on her fridge or at work. It was a lot of fun to make!

I have a friend whom I met about three years ago at a mixed media camp. Her and I hit it off quick and she has been an amazing person to me. For my birthday she found a company that specialized in gluten free cookies (I have Celiac Disease and can not have gluten) and had a box sent to me. She is thoughtful, smart, talented and loyal. She is my person and the inspiration behind this piece.

To create this I found a large heart magnet at my local craft store (It is 6 by 6!). I added a layer of clear gesso, let it dry and then painted it Victorian Purple by Plaid Folkart paint. Once it dried I stamped Rita Barakat’s background art foamie stamp on the heart with Plaid Color Shift Paint in Purple. As it dried I cut a circle by hand from a piece of cardboard that I used the pouring technique with Plaid Folkart paint and Extreme glitter. To see how I did it check out my video here:

I inked the edges of the hand cut circle and heart magnet with clear embossing ink. I dipped all the edges in Rita Barakat’s Dragon Egg’ Embossing powder and heat set it. I stamped my sentiment and placed it in the circle adding some gems from my stash. Finally I stamped the BFF image, colored it in with Copics, cut it out and used pop dots to adhere it.

Happy Owloween!

We all know somebody who does not like spooky Halloween. They prefer to keep it on the cute side. I made a card with just that person in mind. Close to my Heart released an adorable stamp set a few years back in which the crafter could create an owl by using the pieces wanted. I used that stamp set to create this pretty simple card.

To shade in the owl I used copic markers. I distressed the tag with Distress Ink and added a gem to finish it off. It looks more complicated than what it really is because of the pattern paper I selected as the back drop.

Hang With Me!

The Following is a blog I wrote 8 years ago and never published. I found it in my drafts and thought I would share. After all, Scrapbook pages are timeless!

It has been awhile, but I need you to hang with me. I have been lacking motivation the last two months and have completed a few challenges. I have had to do seperate uploads for each challenge and they follow this post. In the mean time, here are my recent creations of the last few months. Sorry about the flash, but I am still trying to learn this camera I have.

Isn't this picture of my Parker too funny? This has been his latest thing. I ask him to smile and he has to do these big funny eyes too! All of this is CTMH!

This is such a funny thing that my sister and I did. We were crawling around on the floor to get a picture of these adorable easter baskets that she had found for her and my kids. We were trying to get just the perfect shot. It was late and we were tired and one of us turned our camera on the other and we got into this camera war. She has all the pictures of me and I of her.

I used a sketch to complete this page and I am not sure I am loving it. I am doing a page of the month thing through Basic Gray and in the process I am starting to appreciate BG a lot more. This paper is all BG as well as the paper I made the flower from. The other bits are from another line.
