Deepest Sympathies

Probably the least favorite thing for me to make is a Sympathy card, but they are the most meaningful to the recipient. During times of loss a hand made card can warm the heart like nothing else. Since death is often no predictable it is best to make a few to have on hand. I used the Hedgehog Hollow September 2018 to create a Deepest Sympathy card.

 I stamped the flowers with Catherine Pooler's Coral Cabana ink pad. I stamped the stems and sentiment with a black detailed ink. Using the Marvy Uchida brush tip pens I colored in the flowers and stems.

 I sprinkled Color Burst on a piece of white cardstock and misted with gold glimmer mist. Once it dried I used an oval die cut to trim it out and inked the edges.

I pop dotted the flowers and sentiment over the stems I adhered with a liquid adhesive. To finish if off I added a few pearls.

I find it easier to create these cards with no specific person in mind. If I am creating a sympathy card for a loved one I tend to break down and unable to complete it. By working on several sympathy cards at a time it makes it easier.

Warm Cozy Wishes

I splattered Colorburst on a Kraft card base to start this perfect card for the coffee fall lover! The little coffee is from the Cozy Coffee Stamp Set. I colored it in with Studio 71 colored pencils and cut it out. I layered two pieces of washi tape and then sentiment on top. I used pop dots on the coffee and finished it off with some gorgeous scarlet colored gems.

Life is Short and the World is Wide

My new obsession is Ken Oliver's Colorburst for Brutus Monroe. I used it to create the backdrop for the sweet little campers and sentiment for this card. I stamped three of the five trailers from the Road trip Brutus Monroe Stamp set, colored them in with Style-file markers, and cut them out on my Brother's Scan N Cut. I layered my colorburst piece on white card stock and adhered to a black card base. I used pop dots to adhere the trailers. I stamped the sentiment with surface ink and layered it on a small colorburst strip. I finished it off with little acrylic bubbles.

Emobssing Folder Technique 4!

Today I am sharing with you the fourth and final technique in this series -- Embossing on the embossed and misting. Well, in my case, color bursting it! The first thing I did was run a white piece of flat card stock through my machine with an embossing folder. I tool my embossing ink and lightly rubbed it over the raised image and embossed it with penny embossing powder. I sprinkled three Color Burst colors and misted. Lastly I used a baby wipe to pick up the color on the raised image. As that dried I die cut my tag and stamped the image. I used alcohol marker to color it in. Color Burst Card

I am obsessed lately with Color Burst! I created a couple of cards using an embossing technique. There are a few things to keep in mind when playing with any kind of paint or ink. The most important is to keep your color families together. Keep reds, oranges and yellows in one family and blues and greens in another family. There is one exception to this rule and that is PURPLE. Purple will turn everything brown except for blue and red, so mix it with only those colors. I also like to just use three colors at a time. If you keep those two things in mind sky's the limit and whatever your create surely will be a masterpiece!
