August 2017 Planner Set Up

Hello Friends! It is that time of month again in which we start to think about what is to come in the near future. Time to set up our planners! I have been in a state of confusion lately regarding my planner. My home life is full and my career has taken on a new chapter. I also have stepped away from the Happy Planner because I can not take it with me -- I really need something portable. I have experimented with a couple different set ups. For the month of August I have decided to use two TN planners -- one for home and one for work. The best part is they are both easy to grab and go.

I set up my home planner for August with the June Planner Society Kit last month. So, I used the August kit to set up my work planner. I put together a video of the process. You can click HERE to watch it.

Mandala Pocket Letter!

Hi friends! Today I wanted to share with you a pocket letter I made for my friend Linda Isreal! My inspiration came from a beautiful clay elephant by Lisa Kettell Designs. I wanted to put something together for her that was pretty and functional. Since she is an artist it was important to me that she received something that she could display or take apart to use in her art.

Please visit HERE to see how it all came together and her beautiful pocket letter to me!

Canvas Art

Step into any craft store these days and you are going to see a canvas that has a print waiting to be colored. I decided to take it a different direction....
I started off with just a black and white image on canvas. I knew that I wanted to keep it simple.
So, I cut out sections and laid left over Rinea Foiled Paper on the back of the cut out sections so they popped through the front.
I outlines a few spots and added punched flowers to finish it off.
By using the canvas in a different ways it gives it more of a grown up feel that can be displayed anywhere in your home or office.

Make sure you head over to the Rinea Blog for more inspiration!

I wanted to create something that could stand alone or could be used in art.You can see the process unfold HERE

Funky Bright Sugar Skull Canvas

I have never been into skeletons or skulls until recently. I live in the southwest part of the US. Day of the Dead (November) is a big deal here. Sugar skulls in general can be found pretty much all through out the year and are displayed all the time in cantinas and  Mexican food restaurants (my favorite!). Needless to say, after living here for 20 years I have grown quite fond of them. When Lisa Kettell created beautiful clay sugar skulls I knew I had to have them. I created this canvas with one of them along with digital art from my favorite shop, Calico Collage . This is the first project I made with these gorgeous fun pieces. I have something else planned for the others!

Check out the tutorial I made for you here .

Fairy Pocket Letter

My friend, Erin Reed, and I decided to trade pocket letters. Neither of us had ever made a pocket letter before, so a little research was done. A pocket letter is basically a pin pal with an artsy flair. Traditionally you fill a baseball card sleeve  with art goodies and a letter (after all every pin pal gets a letter, right?). Here is what I created for her and you can check out how I put it together and what she gave me HERE .
